Abstrakt
The study examines the representation of women artists in the collection and display practices of the Belvedere Museum. It explores whether and to what extent the inclusion of works by female artists reflects broader processes of emancipation and changing perceptions of gender within art history. By analysing the formation and presentation of the collection, the study considers the relationship between institutional collecting and the construction of cultural identities. The chapter argues that museum collections not only preserve artistic heritage but also participate in shaping narratives of visibility, recognition, and gender equality. In doing so, it highlights the ways in which collecting practices can both mirror and influence broader social transformations.
