Noninvasive Methods in Cardiology 2025

Abstrakt
Thirty years of collaboration between the Department of Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation and leading Japanese research and clinical institutions began in the mid‑1990s, supported by Professor Franz Halberg, the founder of modern chronobiology, and further developed through the long‑term efforts of Professor Jarmila Siegelová and Professor Kuniaki Otsuka from Tokyo Women’s Medical University. These partnerships have produced an extensive set of unique data and numerous joint publications that have significantly advanced knowledge in the fields of chronobiology, blood pressure regulation, arterial elasticity, hypertension, and preventive medicine. Collaboration was subsequently expanded to include the University of Tokyo, Tohoku University, and other Japanese institutions, enabling repeated internships and intensive clinical‑research exchange.
One of the major milestones was the entrusted use of the VaSera 1500 device for non‑invasive assessment of arterial stiffness, which brought the department significant international recognition and more than 120 citations of published results. Another important aspect of long‑term cooperation is the field of renal rehabilitation, developed in partnership with Professor Masahiro Kohzuki, whose principles were successfully implemented in the care of dialysis patients at St. Anne’s University Hospital Brno.
Despite the interruption caused by the COVID‑19 pandemic, the collaboration continues. Since 2022, a new partnership has been developing with the Yamagata Prefectural University of Health Sciences, and in 2024 the cooperation expanded to include the Grand Forest Japan Hospital Nairobi, further extending the department’s activities to international healthcare projects in Africa. This long‑term and successful international cooperation has significantly contributed to the professional development of the department and strengthened the global reputation of St. Anne’s University Hospital Brno.
