About the Editors

Sabina Gola, Doctor in Romance Philology, is a senior lecturer at the Universite Libre de Bruxelles
where she teaches Italian language and linguistics. She is the academic coordinator of the French
as a foreign language department at ULB Langues. Her scienti ic interests include Italian language
and linguistics, as well as intercomprehension and the didactics of multilingualism. She designed,
established, and developed MultiGram, a free-access multilingual online platform, which was awarded
́
the Socrate 2018 pedagogy prize by the Universite Libre de Bruxelles. She also contributed to the
design of RomaNet, the Romance languages platform, and is responsible for the Italian section of the
multilingual digital magazine ROMA. Additionally, she is the academic head of the “Linguistic Tandem”
module.

Kateřina Sedláčková is Deputy Director for Research and Assistant Professor in French at the
Masaryk University Language Centre. Her research interests focus on plurilingualism and mediation.
She is author of research articles, co-editor of several books, editorial board member of CASALC Re-
view, peer-reviewed journal of the Czech and Slovak Association of Language Centres, coordinator
of international professional interest group for plurilingualism FlexiLingua, conference organiser and
since 2023 co-translator of the CEFR Companion Volume 2020 into Czech, translating namely chapters
dedicated to mediation and plurilingual and pluricultural competences.

Beatriz Calvo Martín is Assistant Professor of Spanish Language and Didactics at the Universite li-
bre de Bruxelles, coordinator for the Tandem Student Language Exchange Project in Spanish, and
has a PhD in Languages and Literature. Her broad teaching and teacher training experience includes
collaborations with several universities, Instituto Cervantes and other of icial institutions. Her re-
search deals with applied linguistics, L2 motivation, creativity and emotions in language learning,
multi/plurilingualism, Spanish literature, Francophone literature and Comparative literature. She be-
lieves in collaborative, autonomous and motivational learning and she has applied these principles
through different innovative teaching projects such as short ilm making, gami ication, creative writ-
ing groups, blogs and wikis, online collaborative journals, blended learning, etc. She is co-founder of
the BrusELE teachers training programme and co-founder of the FlexiLingua language teachers net-
work. She is also the author of learning materials and textbooks (Spanish for Academic Purposes),
a novel (La Jaula Invisible) and three short stories (Nocturno, Un sueño de sueños and Últimas volun-
tades), published in Spain.

Romain Racine (Dr. phil.) is currently in charge of the continuing education of French teachers at
the Institut français de Tunisie after having directed the “bilingual-plus” section at the University of
Fribourg/Freiburg. Hir research focuses on the development of bi/plurilingual and interdisciplinary
skills, as well as on the acquisition of vocabulary in a professional and academic context (“Le vocabu-

2022). He is also the author of methods and manuals for French as a foreign language: Communica-
tion progressive du français perfectionnement C1–C2 (CLE International, 2018), Pratique Vocabulaire
B2 (CLE International, 2021), Au Top objectif B1+ (Ellipses, 2023), Mon Vocabulaire Guide visuel A1–B2
(CLE International, 2024).
Alessandra Keller-Gerber teaches FLE didactics at the University of Fribourg (CH) and is responsible
for the “bilingue plus” programme – for French for law – at the same university. Her research focuses
on re lective practices as a research and teaching method in the ield of foreign languages.
